  REVIEW:

Happy Feet . . . featuring the voice talents of Robin Williams, and Robin Williams, and of course, Robin Williams.  If you’re paying him millions for his voice talent, you may as well use him for all the characters, and that’s almost what they do!

With modern animation technology, the quality is so good that films are now being immediately released in IMAX theatres…and this is one of them.  Happy Feet is a combination between and normal animated movie and a musical extravaganza.  In the Antarctic, penguins lead a pretty structured life.  As has always been the tradition, they attract each other by singing.  Well, a cute little penguin named Mumble (voiced by Elijah Wood) can sing at all and he is shunned by all the other penguins.  But, he can really dance up a storm!  Since this isn’t normal, all the other penguins think he’s just weird.  Since he can’t attract a soul-mate he and some buddies decide to head out on an adventure to discover why their food supply of fish is nearly gone.  What none of the penguins know is that Mumble’s dancing skills maybe be exactly what is needed to save everyone’s lives.

Happy Feet is an animated movie with a message . . . a message that’s delivered with a little song and dance, as well as an interesting story, heart-pounding action, and some good ole penguin humor.  It’s truly adorable.  And, it’s animation sets the standard in animation – a task which is quickly nearing impossible considering the long list of extraordinarily animated feature films.  Happy Feet may be a little complicated for the youngest youngsters, but its strong soundtrack and important lesson make it a “must see” for all ages.
